Prepare Yourself, Your Altar, the Tools and Ingredients Needed

Ensure you are mentally and physically prepared to Spell cast. Rushing in from a hectic and stressful busy day is not conducive to effective Spell Casting. Having family members around demanding your attention or having too many electronic and electrical items switched on are also not good factors.

Gather all that you need before you commence upon your altar. Look carefully at the Spell ingredients and check which tools you’ll need and ensure everything is clean and in good repair.

Take time to unwind and perhaps mediate for ten minutes or so before commencing. Or brew some herbal calming tea such as chamomile or lavender to help you relax. Switch off all unnecessary electrical items. Ensure your privacy will not be invaded.

Many Witches like to bathe before Spell casting and make this part of their ritual. The purpose of a Ritual Bath is not only to cleanse your physical body, but also prepare you mentally and spiritually for what is to come. Cleansing your body helps you to step more easily from the mundane world into the spiritual one. It’s a good idea to mirror the use of the same herbs and spices, incense and essential oils you’ll be using in your Spell or ritual to add to your bathing experience. Light some candles in the appropriate colors you’ll be using and perhaps some perfumed incense. Add a handful of the dried herbs you’ll be using or some essential oils to your bath water.

Lower yourself into the tub and gently cleanse yourself and visualize all negativity being cleansed away. Lie back, relax and meditate on the purpose of your forthcoming Spell.

Once you feel fully cleansed, pull out the plug and let the water and negative energy drain from the bath tub. This completes your Ritual Bath.

If you have special ritual clothing you will need to change into them. You do not need ornate cloaks or robes for successful Spell Casting but you do need to consider the color of your clothing. Purple is by far the best color for Spell casting as it increases psychic ability. Failing this, pure white is a very good color to wear for Casting Spells. You could even consider wearing the appropriate corresponding color of your Spell Casting intentions. For example for a Money Spell you could wear green and for a Love Spell you could wear pink.

Create your Sacred Space & Circle

A cast circle is a place in which positive energy and power are kept in, and negative energy kept out. Witches use the symbol of a circle as a sacred space – a place in which they conduct rituals, use Magic and a place to meditate and worship. Other religions use buildings such as a church, mosque, temple or synagogue to conduct their ritual practice, prayer and worship whereas Witches can cast a circle wherever and whenever they want. Outdoors within nature is especially suited to conducting Magic.

There are many ways to create a sacred space and to cast a circle. As with most things involved in Witchcraft there are no absolute ‘rights or wrongs’. You will invariably choose the right way for you. But here is the simplest method you can choose to follow:

You can physically mark a three – five foot circle on the ground with twigs, pebbles or rocks, chalk or salt or you can simply visualize a circle.

Ground and center yourself by standing with both feet firmly on the ground, and relaxing your arms at your sides. Face east and concentrate upon the ground beneath you and the sky above you and feel the energy entering your feet and head. Next turn to the south, followed by the west and finally north repeating the same process.

Face east again and visualize a sphere of gold light forming around you and expanding outwards in every direction so it fills the circle.

Call upon the elements

Concentrate on all five elements of air, earth, fire, water and Spirit and how they are within you, represented on your altar and in the world around you.

Raising energy

Raising your energy is bringing forth all your energy inside you and preparing to release it at the end of the Spell to go out into the world and create the changes you desire. Imagine the energy in the form of a white light flowing throughout your body forming a ball of light deep in your chest. Tense every muscle in your body until you feel ‘fully charged’. Relax and take a few deep breaths before proceeding

Recite your Spell

Simply repeat the Spell rhyme 3 times

Releasing energy

After your Spell is complete you will need to release and send out the energy that you raised. This energy is released into the world to create the change you desire. To do this you will need to stand before your altar and imagine the ball of light in your chest once more. Again tense all your muscles and begin to ‘push’ the energy upward. Then stand comfortably with your feet apart and thrust your arms upwards and outwards to form a star shape with your body. Exhale and imagine sending this energy out into the air. When this is complete, stand with feet together and touch each shoulder with opposite arms to form a cross against your chest.

Ground yourself

Relax, take some deep breaths and imagine and visualize the golden sphere around you becoming smaller until it disappears.
